About this Workshop:
This workshop will be held over three days: Friday afternoon will be dedicated to figuring out manual settings and an introduction to editing workshop, which will be good prep for a long weekend of shooting. Saturday will be chasing the sunrise at Nugget Point, followed by waterfalls, lakes, and long sandy beaches before settling in for a cozy night of camping and hopefully stargazing at the Milky Way. Sunday’s sunrise mission will be right outside our tents, treading carefully around the resident sea lions, before breakfast and another day exploring lush green forests and rugged coastlines. If luck is on our side, we’ll catch another rad sunset before heading back to Dunedin.
This will be a very hands-on and collaborative workshop for those wanting to discover the full potential of their camera and acquire practical skills, which will give you so much more creative freedom while you explore and frolic away your exchange semester in NZ. You will get to experience the beautifully raw landscapes of the Catlins and test out your new skills on its wild coastline.

Why so early (6am) on Saturday?
It’ll take us about 1.5-2hrs to reach Nugget Point, factor in the walk - we would want to arrive by 8am for the sunrise. This Golden Hour provides the best lighting and soft array of colours.
What are some of the places we will see?
Nugget Point, Jacks Blowhole, Purakanui Falls, Curio Bay and some more secret waterfalls, forest trails and lookout points ;) We will be camping at Purakanui Bay Campsite.
Where can I borrow tents, sleeping bags, and mats?
You can rent them from Unipol here: Camping Equipment - Rental Prices
If you’re happy to share a tent with 2-3 others on the trip, then it might be more cost efficient to get the 4 person tent. The camping equipment hire is not included in the Workshop Cost, but I’m more than happy to help you out in arranging things :)
How to Sign Up?
Please sign up using the form below - one form per person :)
Due to the limited spaces, it may be that not everyone gets to join this trip - but I will let you know if I run future tours and those who missed out will get priority in the next workshop!
Looking forward to meeting you all!
